Hello, sorry for my english..
I formated my PC and because i have a poor connection (400kb/s), i copied my The Witcher 1 & 2 files to an external hard drive. I transfered the files to the formated PC (in C:/), but the launcher don't work, because the games aren't installed.
How can I install the games without download them again ?

You should have backed up the Installer files, not the installed game's files.. Simply, now, you have to redownload them from your account tab. Just remember to keep the saved game, though (if you have on in that hard drive).
If i am mistaken on my assumption, though, and what you actually backed up had been the installer files, just reinstall it..

Unless some one else has a better idea,you have to transfer or copy to My Doc's
and install from there.

You don't need to use the launcher to play. You can do it the way you mentioned, just double click on the game's .exe to play it or double click on configuration to change settings.

On installation a game might make changes to the registry, it might install required 3rd party tools or drivers (like some DirectX version, PhyX, whatever), it might put some files in folders outside the game folder (e.g. My Documents, the hidden AppData etc.). For all these reasons, there is no guarantee that copying the game folders to a different computer (or the same one after a complete reset) will be sufficient to make the game run.
There might be ways to fix your installation without downloading the installers again, but they would require precise knowledge of all the changes the installers made to your computer on installation, and I doubt you'll find anyone with that knowledge here on the forums. :(
Next time, make sure you keep the installers, expecially if you have such a slow internet connection. That's the whole idea of DRM-free installers, that you don't need the internet to reinstall your games - just keep a backup copy of them somewhere, burnt on a DVD or on your external hard drive. And research on the net where the save games for a given game are stored before you erase your hard disk; they aren't always found in the game folder, so if you just copy the game folder, there's a certain risk of losing them.

Just so there's no confusion here, did you copy your installed files or your installer files?
For example, your installer files for Witcher 2 should look like the following list:
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25.exe
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-1.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-2.bin
setup_the_witcher2_ee_3.4.0.25-3.bin
.
.
.
and so on..
Unfortunately, if you don't have the games backed up with the kind of file names mentioned above, you will have to download them again in order to reinstall the game.

Download Game On External Hard Drive Windows 10


I need to be able to alt tab out of the game when I have customers, so it can't be a method where I'm making a bootable external hard drive where I have to restart the machine to return to the usual programs.
These are for old pc games that I own the disks of, but will need to get a patch so I can use them at work as there is no disk drive for me to use.
I'm not very tech savvy, so step by step instructions would be much appreciated
