Hello, I need help obtaining a driver for my pavilion dv7-4180us wireless hardware. Hardware ID indicates 14E4 / 4727 which comes from Broadcom. On HP website, the only Broadcom driver is for bluetooth, all others listed for networking do not work. Broadcom website doesnt have it either. Im running Windows 7 64bit. Why doesn't HP have drivers for hardware they use??? This is fustrating! If Im doing something wrong please school me. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Here is the HP support page where your Windows 7 64-bit driver is. Look in the network category and Broadcom.

Here is the link for your notebook's Service and Maintenence manual.

There are one of the following modules installed in your laptop.

1) Broadcom 4312G 802.11b/g WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo Adapter
2) Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo

Your Broadcom wireless minioci module is a combo device. It has both WLAN and Bluetooth capabilities. The Broadcom driver package at the HP site has the drivers for both.

The following image of Device Manager from my notebook shows where you can find out which module is in your notebook.

Best regards,

erico

The machine is not equipped with bluetooth so I know its not a combo as you mention. The link you provided with software support on dv7-4180us only supports Broadcom bluetooth. When i verify hardware Network controller properties on that device. it shows the following:

PCIVEN_14E4DEV_4727&SUBSYS_145C103C&REV_01

PCIVEN_14E4DEV_4727&SUBSYS_145C103C

PCIVEN_14E4DEV_4727&CC_028000

PCIVEN_14E4DEV_4727&CC_0280

I tried the following link but its not for my hardware: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-systems-and/Broadcom-Wireless-Driver-Windows-7/m-p/1..

I need Broadcom wireless driver.

Hi,

Have you tried in the Recovery Manager to see if the driver is there?

Access it from the keystroke as you start your notebook.

Is Win 7 x64 the original OS? Hoave you upgraded it or changed/deleted any partitions?

The support page shows Win 7 x64 as the only supported OS for the notebook. The information I placed about the Broadcom combo devices came right out of the Service and Maintenence manual. You can open the door on the bottom of the laptop to access the wireless module and read the model information. See page 52 in the manual for the procedure.

Erico,

I deleted the original windows 7 home and replaced with windows 7 professional, i used the 64bit version because its what HP supports, but HP does not post broadcom wireless driver, only the bluetooth. It states the broadcom bluetooth driver available by HP works in conjuction with broadcom wireless driver, but where is the wireless driver for it?

After reading the service and maintenance manual, there are many wireless models it can have, so I pulled the hardware ID tag as mentioned above and the wireless hardware I have is confirmed a broadcom wireless device pending a driver i need which HP does not post unless im doing something wrong. I tried every driver posted under my model number on HP website and still no good.

At this point i have no wireless or lan connection because of missing driver. I will report when I finally get it. Any feedback on this driver is greatly appreciated.

It has over 90 categories belonging to a horde of genres including engineering, fiction, architecture, astronomy, audio books, computers, DIY, hardware, graphics, psychology, etc. They do have an option for registering yourself as a user but that’s not mandatory to get access to the content. You can browse by genres or other sub-categories such as “Wanted”, “Expired”, “Most Popular”, and “Selections”. Though it does have a decent catalogue of fiction titles, it is more popular for non-fiction and educational books. Music free.

Download and install Broadcom Wirelessdriver fromhere (ver 5.60.350.11 for 32/64 bit Win7).

It should work because hardware ids of your wireless card are included in it.

If you have problems with other drivers then let me know about it.
