Jim said at yesterday's reddit AMA that the manuscript is due January 1st. Generally a 4 month turnaround is necessary after that, 6 preferable. Penguin has managed to bring that down to as low as 1 month, but that is unlikely. (Props to 'Priscellie' for most of the above info).

Butcher risks declining interest in the Dresden Files. He's got such an interesting 'world,' with huge potential stories and story-lines that he's setup, and an interested fan-base. However, with the snail's pace publishing of the 'adult' version of the Files, Butcher is risking a growing disinterest as readers turn to other authors/books that are a bit more proliferate. Seriously dude. 4 freaking years since the last book. I was as in love with the series as the next person but my interest has pretty much died. It just feels blatantly disrespectful to the fans and unprofessional at this point which is a damn shame. I loved the world and characters. So much wasted potential.
You know, the thing about the Dresden Files is that they're pulp fiction. Fun fact about cliffhangers, they're not fun anymore after 4 years.
The series has so many threads, so much to mine out at this point Butcher has 2 options. Cancel the entire series, or license it out. Because there is absolutely no way to make 16 worth the wait, seeing as it just leaves room for yet another book (and another and another and so on), which at this point I'm not willing to be waiting for. The fact that Jim Butcher is doing a lot of Dresden files stuff -RPGs, card games and other stuff- tells me, that he doesn't have a writers block, but is just killing the Dresden Files cashcow.
Due to that AND a waiting time equal to the one of These George R R Martin, I will NOT but the book, nor any further one.

Reading the snippets of this book makes me want to reread the entire series. That's just 15 books, no biggie.

Wait, did Book Depository always list it with the publishing date as September 14, 2017? I mean, on Butcher's site, he was still working on it this February.. How long does it usually take for it to be published after he is done? Surely more than half a year..? IDK, I didn't follow the series when it was more considerably active.. Which is a great thing cuz Sighs.. The wait. Well. I know I can survive but seeing the date just now kinda gave me some unnecessary false hope lol.

Damn, Butcher is the most consistent writer at getting books out I've ever seen right after Humayun Ahmed, except most of his books aren't pieces of shits. Keep it up, man!

Its 2019 and I am still here, let him take as long as he wants as long as he releases the damn book. Not worried about a George R.R Martin type deal here where he never released his last book and ended up dying.
December 2017 update: it STILL hasn't came out???? this is ridiculous :( last book was in 2014..before that it was like one year between books.. stop this GRRM nonsense :(
