Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver Should I Remove

Sep 10, 2016 - Just minutes ago i uninstalled that driver and i must say that it works even. Probably need to uninstall the Windows 10 supplied driver first. Realtek USB Ethernet Controller Driver is a program developed by Realtek Semiconductor. The most used version is 8.7.227.2013, with over 98% of all.

Be sure you don't want or need these before uninstalling. I would set a restore point first just in case.

When you uninstall the Wi-Fi drivers from your system, the operating system (OS) may no longer recognize the wireless adapter and it becomes unusable.

How to fix it.
A clean installation of wireless drivers may be a good first step to take.

Step 1: Download and save the driver using one of the below options:

  • Get the latest system-specific driver from your computer manufacturer support.
  • Download the latest Wi-Fi Driver for Your Intel® Wireless Adapter.

Step 2: Uninstall the Wi-Fi driver.
  1. Uninstall your Wi-Fi driver. Windows* may have an inbox Wi-Fi driver for your wireless adapter. You can't uninstall an inbox driver (you won't see the 'Delete the driver software for this device' option). Proceed to the next step if you start seeing the same version of the driver installed automatically after it’s uninstalled.
    1. Go to Device Manager.
    2. Expand the Network Adapters category.
    3. Right-click your Intel Wireless Adapter and choose to uninstall it.
    4. Make sure to select the option to Delete the driver software for this device.
  2. Restart your computer.

Step 3: Driver installation.
Locate the driver you downloaded back in Step 1. Run as administrator, and follow the wizard to completion.
(Optional Step) Apply the Recommended Settings for Wireless Connectivity.

Step 2: Uninstall the Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Wireless driver.
  1. If you don't see Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software under Programs and Features, proceed with the number 2.
    1. Open Programs and Features (Uninstall a program) from the Control Panel.
    2. Select Uninstall or Change and then Remove.
    3. When prompted, choose to discard settings.
